The work of Dr Peter Unwin, from the University of Worcester, is co-produced with members of Gypsy, Roma, Traveller and Disabled communities and focuses on lived experiences, seeking to address the remaining significant inequalities in health and social care provision. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/rhigrt.wp.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/dr-peter-unwin.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37\" style=\"width:227px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>There is a long way to go until the recommendations of research reports and government policy match people\u2019s lived experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My research and knowledge exchange driver is to use my research and knowledge transfer opportunities to bring about real world change, and I am vitally interested in the impact of my co-produced work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two areas that I am particularly focused on are those of health and social care within Gypsy, Roma and Traveller cultures and foster care, particularly in regard to the inclusion of disabled people as foster carers. Discrimination is evident in regard to the health and social care outcomes of Gypsies, Roma, and Travellers, as it is in the exclusion of disabled people from becoming foster carers.
